The VION Cup final for seven-year-olds was a difficult competition as only three of the entries qualified for the jump-off. Among them were the KWPN stallion Verdi with Eric van der Vleuten, his son Maikel van der Vleuten with the mare Adermie (Namelus R x Cascavelle), and Willem Greve with the gray mare Verona (Odermus R x Maykel). Could one Greve defeat two Van der Vleutens? The answer was yes. In the final competition, Greve emerged as the only clear rider in the jump-off, but in the overall standings it was Van der Vleuten, Sr. who received the VION Cup. Looking very relaxed, Van der Vleuten rode the stallion through the course - which appeared easy for both horse and rider - under a warm summer sun. Verdi seems to possess all the qualities a rider wants.

In the overall standings, Greve and Verona finished second between father and son Van der Vleuten, with Maikel and Adermie in third place. Spectators are certain to see the two very talented young mares more often in the future.
