Gelder Horse Breeding Gains a Stallion
Three weeks ago, the seven-year-old Gelder stallion Wilson (whose name was Widor at the time) was presented for the performance test, which he completed this morning. Gelder stallions are evaluated both under saddle (dressage and jumping) and in harness.
Wilson was bred by and is registered to Karel van der Leijden of Hengelo, a widely respected breeder, who also bred Wilson's sire Koss. Wilson is a ZZ-light dressage competitor. His dam Metha keur pref (s.Cabochon) was the National Gelder Horse Day champion as a three-year-old, and Wilson's full brother Vasco was selected for the performance test. Several other sport horses descend from this line.
