The stallion selection committee has recognized three Grand Prix-stallions for KWPN breeding.

Emerald van 't Ruitershof

Emerald (van ‘t Ruytershof) is a twelve-year-old son of Diamant de Semilly out of a dam by Carthago x Lys de Darmen. The stallion successfully competes internationally with Harrie Smolders and appears to be a candidate to represent the Netherlands at this year’s Olympic Games in Rio. In anticipation of this, the stallion was secured by the N.O.P. foundation last weekend at Indoor Brabant. The combination won the World Cup competition in Washington last year and the duo placed themselves amongst the top in the rankings in various Nations Cup competitions and Grand Prixs. The stallion descends from a great dam line with several well-performing close relatives, amongst others his full sister, Grand Prix jumper Diamanthina van ‘t Ruytershof. The stallion meets the KWPN radiographic requirements. Semen is available via Caroline Smolders, tel. +31622523648, website: www.emerald-stallion.com; e-mail: emerald@eurohorse.be.

Vagabond de la Pomme

Vagabond de la Pomme is extremely successful at the highest level with the French rider Penelope Leprovost. The combination won the GCT in Antwerp last year and achieved top placings in Basel, Chantilly and Las Vegas. The eleven-year-old stallion is extraordinarily well-bred with successively Vigo d’Arsouilles, For Pleasure and Darco in the dam line. The stallion originates from the successful lineage of Querly Chin of Joris de Brabander from St. Niklaas. The front left navicular bone is classified as grade 3. Recognized stallions do not have to meet KWPN’s radiograph requirements. Semen is available via Caroline Smolders, tel. +31622523648, website: www.vagabonddelapomme.com ; e-mail: info@harriesmolders.com.

Fernando

This Lord-mare is also the great-granddam of an appointed stallion by Douglas, this stallion just arrived for this spring’s performance test. Fernando is ridden by Johny Pals and was recently placed sixth in the Grand Prix of Jumping Amsterdam. The pair won the 4* in Liverpool and noted high rankings in Poznan, Obglabbeek and Ebreichsdorf.
