The organisation of Foal Auction Borculo announces a new dressage foal selection committee. As of this year, Linda van Doorn and Peter Wetzelaer are the new selectors. Together with scouts Emmy de Jeu and Marcel Sterrenburg they form the team that ensures a top foal collection, Foal Auction Borculo’s signature trait.

Van Doorn and Wetzelaer are successors to Eugène Reesink and Nol Gerritsen. The challenge of Reesink to combine several activities is at the basis of this decision. The organisation is very grateful to both of them for their efforts in previous years.

Foal Auction Borculo now put forward two young selectors who have already established themselves as dressage riders and equestrian entrepreneurs. Linda van Doorn (35) performed strongly at youth competitions, rode at Small Tour level and trained stallions in KWPN performance tests for several years. Nowadays she runs LvD Sporthorses in Lienden, Netherlands. She focuses on training and trading young dressage talent. She says: “Among other things, I purchase foals to train them later and I also breed on a modest scale. I am incredibly excited about this new challenge! I prefer working as a team in selecting the top foals we are looking for, and with Peter I have the right person standing beside me.”

For many years, Peter Wetzelaer (34) has worked as a rider for Stal Witte. He is familiar with the entire process of guiding top foals to become approved stallions as well as mare selections and training towards international level. In 2014, he started his own Stal Wetzelaer, which is situated on two locations: Stal Witte in Schijndel, Netherlands and Van de Goor family in Herpen, Netherlands. Peter concentrates on talented young dressage horses and buys foals annually. About his new role as a selector he says: “This is a wonderful challenge. I have pleasant experience in working together with Linda and we complement each other well. I think I know what is and is not wanted in sport and trade.” 

As of now, breeders can register their foals for our selections. We start the auction year with the Borculo Online Foal Auction for dressage and jumping foals, which runs from April 26 till April 29 2019. On May 24, we will organise the second edition of the Borculo CSI Foal Auction for jumping foals during Jumping Schröder Tubbergen and on August 28 (jumping foals) and August 29 (dressage foals) the well-known Borculo Elite Foal Auction takes place at PSC Lichtenvoorde in Vragender, Netherlands.

About Foal Auction Borculo
The first foals’ auction in the Netherlands, ‘Borculo’ has been a household name in the equestrian world since 1979. This is partly due to the fact that the organization has always been progressive and innovative. Well-known is the Elite Foal Auction, traditionally held at the end of August. More recently, two new auction concepts have been introduced: the CSI Foal Auction and the Online Foal Auction. The organization of all these auction events is in the hands of the National Elite Auction Borculo Foundation.
