Just Special VK stays ahead and wins Blom Cup
To be able to win the final after already winning the semifinal of the Blom Cup is very difficult to achieve. But that’s exactly what Falaise de Muze daughter Just Special VK and Doron Kuipers did in the Blom Cup for six-year-olds.
“With the Blom Cup in mind, I brought Just Special VK to Doron about six weeks ago”, breeder Mark van Kleef responds enthusiastically. He bred the Falaise de Muze daughter Just Special VK (from Energy VK stb-ext PROK by Toulon) out of a dam-line that he has bred with for several generations. “We started this line with her great-grandmother, and Doron also has Just Special's half-sister Hollywood UK under saddle for us. We are very consciously engaged with breeding top class showjumpers and breed about 25 foals per year. So this is a great recognition!”
Fast and careful
As the last starter, Doron and Just Special VK beat thirteen other jump-off candidates. Steven Veldhuis rode to second place with stallion competition winner Je Suis Equus Tame (Qlassic Bois Margot out of Tame Tame by Quaprice Z, breeder S.N.C. Brohier) from Jan Greve. The perfectly cooperating stallion impressed with his sharpness and carefulness. Another KWPN-approved stallion also made his mark in this final; Jacques-Go (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve from Trophie Tinea Go keur sport-spr prest by Lux) owned by Harry van de Goor, finished in twelfth place. Under Jarno van Erp he had an unfortunate fault in the jump-off but impressed with his scope and jumping technique.
Breeders premiums
The breeder of the year 2019, family Moerings, also made themselves heard in this championship. Bas Moerings made a very quick attempt with another of the family’s many breeding product, Jilsther (Diamant de Semilly out of Blisther keur sport-spr prest by Farmer) and saw it rewarded with the third place in this Blom Cup. The ‘Friends of the KWPN’ have made breeders' premiums available for the breeders of the best KWPN-bred gelding, mare and stallion. Just Special VK was the winner of the best mare, while Jilsther, who finished third, was the best gelding in the final. Je Suis Equus Tame has a foreign registration and therefore no breeder's premium has been awarded for the best stallion.
