Together with chairman Cor Loeffen and senior inspector Henk Dirksen host Chris de Heer just looked back on the first day of the KWPN Stallion Show, that yielded 28 jumper stallions.

Out of a total of 55 presented stallions, 28 received the green light. They may prove their abilities under saddle in the performance test. Chairman of the Stallion Selection Committee Cor Loeffen spoke of a good day with average quality. “We were able to inspect the stallions in a good manner and we would like to thank the team in the cage for their excellent guidance. In the first-round viewing we gave off a clear signal that we want the stallions to be presented in as natural as possible fashion and the way they were presented today definitely pleased us.” In the conversation with Chris de Heer, Cor indicates the primary focus was the light-footedness and athletic ability in jumping. “The modern sport demands horses that cannot only take on high, but also wide obstacles. We already try to make an assessment of this in free jumping, by looking close to what the stallions do in the phase between the take-off and landing. Whether they retain that forward movement.”

Today marked the day of foreign bloodlines, tomorrow the emphasis is more on Dutch fathers and lineages. “Today was a day of average quality, there were no extreme outliers, but we are definitely satisfied. If a stallion meets the requirements on conformation, shows functionality in jumping and possesses an interesting pedigree, we are gladly test him under saddle.” Siring three appointed stallions todaym it was Cornet Obolensky-son Cape Coral RBF Z that was most successful today.  “This stallion already showed some lovely horses at the mare inspections and in the Blom Cup and it is interesting that we get to test mulitiple sons of him in the performance test.” Earlier this month, Cape Coral RBF Z got his first son approved at the KWPN.

Senior Inspector Henk Dirksen is also pleased with this first day. “Everything went well, and we got to appoint some stallions out of super solid damlines. Such as the lineage of Fragrance de Chalus, the Roosakker-line and the Dutch Aziemieka damline. We are looking forward to tomorrow when we expect some more interesting stallions. Sons of sires such as Carambole, Jukebox and Herakles.
