In the studio segment at KWPN.tv the jumper stallions of the KWPN Select Sale were just introduced by Frederik de Backer and Wim Versteeg. Frederick de Backer was full of praise of these stallions as he provided the viewers with the latest information about this talented collection.

Afterwards, the two gentlemen discussed how the collection came into existence. “During the first-round viewing, the selection committee has watched all stallions closely. We then approached owners of stallions and several owners contacted us about adding the stallions to the collection. The collection is comprised of the best stallions we could select”, explains Wim Versteeg.

No catch

Frederick de Backer: “The KWPN horse is known as a healthy horse. Horse dealing goes hand in hand with health.” Wim Versteeg adds: “All stallions that participate in the second-round viewing have had to comply with various veterinarian matters. The stallion of the KWPN Select Sale have also undergone an extensive sports examination, both clinically and through x-rays. At the auction website the veterinary reports are available to everyone in both Dutch and English. You also find the x-rays there. This allows potential buyers to have their own vet review the photos. These stallions are at the start of their career in sport, breeding or both. As a buyer you want no catch. That’s why we are so strict when it comes to health.”

Entirely online

“This year the KWPN Select Sale is completely differently in set-up due to the corona issues. We had preferred to auction in Den Bosch, but sadly that is not an option. Since we already organised so many auctions via the KWPN platform and people know where to find us now, we have chosen to organise this year’s KWPN Select Sale on this platform too”, explains Wim Versteeg. Bidding starts on Friday February 4th and the auction closes on Monday February 7th from 20.00hrs onwards. Out of the sixteen jumper stallions in our collection, eight were appointed to the performance test. A record, according to Frederik de Backer. Good cause

The KWPN Select Sale is not only linked to the KWPN Stallion Selection, but it also traditionally includes an auction lot for charity. This edition, a beautiful painting is offered for sale and the entire proceeds go towards the Prinses Maxima Center for children oncology. “Valentine’s Day is drawing near, so should you be looking for something nice for your partner this is perhaps a good opportunity,” quips Frederik de Backer.
