The selection process for the World Championship for Young Dressage horses is in full swing. Thursday June 30th, all young talents that are still in the race were invited to the National Equestrian Centre for test-oriented training. Johan Hamminga gave tips to the riders.

Floor Dröge, member of the selection committee, commences: “The weather was beautiful, so the conditions were great. Johan started working with every combination with his well-known enthusiasm and passion. Each combination was given 20 minutes of training and Johan gave all the riders some advice they can hopefully use to their advantage the coming weeks. As a committee it is great to see how the horses progress and you definitely see some changes over time.”

Next stop: 20th of July in Houten

“Wednesday, the 20th of July we are a guest at the Zilfia’s Hoeve in Houten for another observation moment. This time it is a training competition and hopefully the rider can apply all the tips they received yesterday in the test. August 10th, the third selection follows, and this is also the so-called Wild Card day. This offers not yet presented horses a final chance to obtain a spot in the WC selection. And that’s especially interesting for horses that are stabled abroad or where unable to attend previously. Right now, each age category still has about twelve combinations left and eventually we the WC selection may include six horses in each age class,” explains Floor Dröge.
