Last week, we disclosed that My Blue Hors Santiano was the top producer KWPN dressage foals born in 2022. This week we hit the KWPN Database again to find out which sires produced the most jumper foals last season. In 2022, over 11.400 foals were born, 5200 foals were registered in the breeding direction jumping.

The top 5 sires of jumper foals born last year is as follows:

  1. New Pleasure VDL with 158 foals
  2. Carrera VDL with 147 foals
  3. Grandorado TN N.O.P. with 109 foals
  4. Arezzo VDL with 96 foals
  5. Eldorado van de Zeshoek with 89 foals

New Pleasure VDL

New Pleasure VDL (For Pleasure out of Lady-A ter Putte by Diamant de Semilly, bred by Family De Maertelaere of Bassevelde) immediately soars to the number one spot with his first crop of 158 KWPN-registered jumper foals in 2022. The stallion was announced as one of the premium stallions at the 2021 KWPN Stallion Show. A few months later, New Pleasure VDL was approved at the KWPN after obtaining 87,5 points in his performance test. 

Carrera VDL

The Grand Prix stallion Carrera VDL (Cardento out of Vantiels Esprit elite prest sport-spr PROK by Baloubet du Rouet, bred by K. Muys Jr. of Oterleek) has been holding a top-5 position in this popularity ranking for years now. This time the stallion is in the second position thanks to 147 jumper foals. The recognized stallion had a successful career in the international Grand Prix with Jur Vrieling. By now, some of his offspring are following his footsteps at the highest level. 

Grandorado TN N.O.P.

The KWPN stallion Grandorado N.O.P. (Eldorado vd Zeshoek out of Charmieque elite IBOP-spr EPTM-spr sport-spr prest PROK by Carolus II, bred by Marinus Rietberg and Dick Verhoeven of Holten) claims a third spot with 109 foals. The stallion is soaring over the highest courses under the saddle of Willem Greve. The champion of the KWPN autumn performance test of 2014 was signed by the Dutch Olympic Horse Foundation last August. Recently, Grandorado TN N.O.P. was elected KWPN Jumping Horse of the Year 2022 , the award ceremony is held at the KWPN Stallion Show in Den Bosch. 

Arezzo VDL

The preferent stallion Arezzo VDL (Chin Chin out of Sarjolijn ster prest s.Heartbreaker, breeder H. Mulder of Blankenham) is ranked fourth based on 96 KWPN-registered jumper foals. Arezzo was the champion of the spring performance test at three years of age when he was awarded a 9 for his reflexes, scope, and perspective as a jumper horse. The stallion had an impressive start to his international career with Jessica Kuerten with whom he later won the Grand Prix of Odense. Afterwards, he was campaigned by Jur Vrieling and the two added many international wins to their name. 

Eldorado van de Zeshoek

In fifth place we find the preferent Eldorado van de Zeshoek (Clinton out of Bijou Orai by Toulon, bred by P. Merckx of Stekene). He sires 89 KWPN-registered foals in 2022, raking two places behind his son Grandorado TN N.O.P. The stallion of Team Nijhof and Van den Oetelaar was approved at the KWPN studbook at six years of age. Paired to Willem Greve, he was one of the top contenders for the Dutch team and the combination competed at multiple Nations Cups. His offspring are equally successful at the highest level. Up until 2023, this stallion lists 1416 KWPN-registered foals to his name.
