Only few horses have won both the semi-final and the final round of the four-year-olds. Super talent Otazu ridden by Martine van den Eijnden repeated his feat as he obtained a 9.3 for jumping.

Wim Versteeg and Antonius Schulze Averdiek had to judge a strong group of four-year-old jumper horses today in the final of the KWPN Championship in Exloo.

Many talented horses in finals

Willem Greve’s talent Otazu (Lord Pezi out of Dolores MB by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve) came, saw and conquered under Martine van den Eijnden. Being the last combination to enter the ring, they had to deal with the pressure, but the unlimited qualities and scope of this mare proved once again undeniable. “This mare has a very powerful canter with ample balance, and she was presented very well by her rider. She jumps with an exemplary technique in both her forehand and hind quarters and shows abundant athletic ability in her body and heaps of scope. She furthermore demonstrates a good rideability and a lot of blood”, explained Wim Versteeg. Otazu received a 9.3 for jumping and an 8.5 for submission. Sophie Verges piloted the gelding Oceanbridge B (Comthago VDL out of Kissbridge B by Freeman VDL, bred by Stal Bakker of Zijldijk) to a solid round, which was rewarded with a 9 for jumping and 8.8 for submission. “This horse is easy to ride, has a light-footed canter and is intelligent in the course. He jumps with ample athletic ability and a good technique.” Yindee van Wanrooij slotted into third aboard Ohlua-Carmen (O’Neill van ‘t Eigenlo out of Kahlua-Carmen sport-spr by F-One USA) of breeders Martien and Frans Burgers. This quality mare was given an 8.8 and an 8.6. “Again a horse that performed a solid round in the final. She has a great balance in the canter and in jumping she displays a supple body, good mindset and good hindleg technique.” The best KWPN-approved stallion was yesterday’s runner-up Ovinio (Ipsthar out of Kovinia sport-spr by Vigo d’Arsouilles, f/g: Geert Moerings). Ridden by Bas Moerings the stallion jumped another solid round in the final, which resulted in a shared eight rank.
