Big names vied for KWPN Championship for seven-year-old horses in Exloo. Labelle ES (s.Mosito van het Hellehof), bred by Egbert Schep and owned by Stal Hendrix, was the one to clutch the coveted title.

Following the preceding championship finals, this age category was also brimming with quality. In the nine-headed jump-off the leading result was bested time and time again, even when the time was deemed impossible to beat.

Success for Hendrix

The latter was disproved by Gaj Riossa and Mosito van het Hellehof-daughter Labelle ES (out of Hosanne ES keur sport-spr pref by Kannan), the half-sister of the KWPN-approved stallion Mindset ES. This pair is not only securing Stal Hendrix’s second title today; this mare is also the second KWPN Championship champion to be auctioned in the Dutch Sport Horse Sales. “Labelle ES is a fantastic mare. She arrived in our stables last year and Pieter (Keunen, ed.) picked up the reins first. Since he was already preparing four horses for this championship for seven-year-olds, I took over the reins last month. A we’ve got plenty to show for it, as we also won a car at the competition in Nisse last week! Labelle ES is very fast and careful. It gave us an advantage today”, enthuses Gaj Riossa. Thanks to this achievement, Egbert Schep was honoured as breeder of a champion mare for the second time within one week. First NMC champion Pretty Women ES (s.Chacfly PS), today the winner of the seven-year-old horses in Exloo.

VDL Stud

This victory withheld VDL Stud from a second leading position today, though the two horses in the top four marked a strong end to a successful championship for the fervent Friesians. Ridden by Hessel Hoekstra, VDL Legodermus PP (Harley VDL out of Zadermie pref prest by Clinton, bred by Bert Poppelaars) placed second, showcasing ample power and scope. Renee de Weert mounted the podium for the second time today. After a second place with Nelson (s.Highway TN) in the five-year-old championship, the rider of Stal Van den Broek now placed third aboard Labantrix (Eldorado van de Zeshoek out of Abantrix by Abantos). This eager mare bred by Henk van den Broek jumped with lightning-fast reflexes and athletic ability.
