Presentation: the stallions of 2017

Stallions approved in 2018 will be presented in the ring . Gelder-, jumper- and dressage horses will perform under saddle as the Stallion Selection Committee provides commentary. In addition, jumper stallions will jump several obstacles under saddle, and older stallions which received approval based on their sport performance will appear in-hand.

Harness horse stallions will be presented individually in harness, as a member of the Stallion Selection Committee provides commentary.


Horse of the Year 2018

Negro was the 2016 Stallion of the Year en Big Star the 2017 Stallion of the Year. This year we have the Horse of the Year. Who will be his successor in 2018? Horses that excelled in sport last year will be nominated as candidates for the prestigious title. On Saturday, February 2, the winner will be announced and presented with a trophy.



Final Blom Stallion Competition Jumping and Anemone Stallion Competition Dressage

This competition is held in three different locations across the Netherlands. The final takes place at the Stallion Selection in ’s-Hertogenbosch. The Stallion Competition is a unique opportunity to see young approved- and selected stallions in action.


VHO Trophy Dressage Competition

True to tradition, Friday evening of the KWPN Stallion Show will feature the VHO Trophy Competition for KWPN-approved dressage stallions at the Small- and Big Tour levels.


VHO Trofee Springen

On Thursday evening, KWPN-approved stallions will compete over a 1.40m course. As always, the jump-off promises to be thrilling.


Oregon Trophy

The Oregon Trophy competition is among the highlights of the final day of the KWPN Stallion Show. The best KWPN-approved harness horses will contend for the prestigious trophy named after the foundation sire of harness horse breeding, the preferent stallion Oregon.


Grand Prix

For the fifth time in the history of the KWPN Stallion Show, the program on Thursday evening will include a 1.50m Grand Prix. The class is open to all KWPN-approved and KWPN-recognized stallions qualified to compete at this level.
