Athletic Artuna E Z (by Aganix du Seigneur) Convincingly Wins NMK Title
Breeder Popke van Eik came specifically to Ermelo for the event and was far from disappointed. The Aganix du Seigneur daughter Artuna E Z, the Friesian CK champion, dominated the national championship.
The jumper mares free jumped in the Willem-Alexander hall this morning, and the thirteen most complete mares were invited to the final on the main field. The jury team, consisting of Henk Dirksen, Stan Creemers, and guest judge René Poels, faced the difficult task of ranking the top five mares.
Athletic Ability
As the Friesian Central Inspection champion, Artuna E Z (Aganix du Seigneur out of G.Fortuna E ster by Emilion, breeder Popke van Eik from Bakkeveen) already had a strong record. Purchased as a foal by VDL Stud, she was awarded ster in Harich with 85/90 and impressed again in Ermelo. “This long-lined mare has a strong body, a very good canter, and she convinced with her athletic ability over the jumps. She uses her body extremely well,” praised Henk Dirksen. The reserve champion also comes from Bears. This equally genetically interesting mare is the Cardento daughter Robinetta Angel VDL (out of the Grand Prix mare Blue Angel by Luidam), from VDL Stud’s own breeding. “A very appealing mare that moves very well and showed excellent performance in free jumping. She is strongly built and impressed with her technique and athletic ability.” The top three was completed by the Utrecht CK champion. This Belgian-registered mare with a Dutch dam line, Venezia Optima (Ermitage Kalone out of Exquise du Pachis by Vagabond de la Pomme, breeder Optimus Agro) from Egbert Schep, comes from a 1.60m mare and showed her natural talent. “This mare possibly had the best canter of the day and jumps with a lot of body use and again, athletic ability.”
Complete Mares
In fourth place was the Dorian Grey TN daughter Roxette TN (out of Kabisha TN by Cicero Z, co-breeder Willem Zwartjens from Wijhe) from breeder Team Nijhof. “This mare stands out with her light-footed canter, consistently jumps well with her body upwards, and jumps with good technique and power.” The Grandorado TN daughter Razzle Dazzle (out of Kamille elite IBOP-spr sport-spr pref PROK by Comme Il Faut) from breeders Alexandra van der Peijl and Scarlett Wieberdink followed in fifth place. “This mare started very well in free jumping and impressed on the oxer with her excellent technique, body use, and jump finish.”

Breeder of the Year Jumping - gebr. Bosch
This year, the Arnold Kootstra Trophy was awarded to the Breeder of the Year in the Jumping category: the Bosch Brothers from Luttenberg. Breeding is a family affair, and several family members were present at the ceremony.
Two of the family's breeding products participated in the Grand Prix at CHIO Rotterdam: Incredible (by Clinton) and Garant (by Warrant). The brothers have significantly contributed to global breeding and have put The Netherlands on the map multiple times with their breeding products.

Albert van Dijk and Tineke Huizing Honored as Breeders of the Year Dressage
It was a wonderful day for Bijkershof Dressage in Donderen. Owner Albert van Dijk was honored as Breeder of the Year Dressage at the KWPN Championships.
Nearly 30 years ago, Albert and his wife, the now unfortunately deceased Tineke Huizing, started Bijkershof Dressage. Two mare lines, the Nosa line (Mare Line 95, breeding family 709) and the Bottie line (Mare Line 52, breeding family 29), have led to multiple successes in both inspections and sports arenas.
One notable horse bred at Bijkershof Dressage is Imhotep. This son of Everdale has performed very impressively in recent years and was set to represent England at the Paris Olympics. Unfortunately, his rider Charlotte Dujardin became embroiled in controversy, and Imhotep will not compete. Nonetheless, this gelding remains a powerful and high-quality horse that any breeder would be proud of.
Other horses bred by Albert and Tineke include:
Cynosa (Tuschinski out of Spinosa ster pref prest by Havidoff), Grand Prix Dressage
Elite mare Hadinosa (San Amour out of Spinosa ster pref prest by Havidoff), reserve champion CK Drenthe and also to NMK
Elite mare Jinosa (Everdale out of Wladinosa elite IBOP-dres PROK by Rousseau), champion of CK Drenthe and to NMK
KWPN-approved King de Niro (De Niro out of Grandinosa elite pref IBOP-dres PROK by Ampere)
Elite mare Uni d'Ottie (Sandro Hit out of Jottie stb pref PROK by Wisconsin), champion of CK Drenthe and also to NMK
Elite mare Engel d'Ottie (Vivaldi out of Wilde d'Ottie ster IBOP-dres PROK by Sunny Boy), champion Overijssel 4-7 year old elite/keur mares, Pavo Cup Final as four- and five-year-old, 4th place Subli Cup as five-year-old
Elite mare Hello d'Ottie (Jazz out of Unie d'Ottie by Sandro Hit), champion CK Drenthe and also NMK
Floor Droge praised the accomplishments of Albert and Tineke. The presentation included several successful breeding products. During the victory lap, there was enthusiastic applause. Being successful in breeding remains the ultimate dream for most breeders.

Rofa Dodessa van Heemstate Unquestionable Queen of the Three-Year-Old Gelder Mares
The six best three-year-old mares from the National Day of the Gelder Horse competed once again today at the National Mare Championships. After an incredibly strong finale, Rofa Dodessa van Heemstate proved unbeatable and was crowned champion.
According to Marloes, “A long-lined mare with excellent leg technique and a lot of front. Her balance and self-carriage were consistently impressive.” Rofa Dodessa van Heemstate is a daughter of Cennin out of elite sport mare Dodessa (by Upperville). The last mentioned was the National Champion of the three-year-old Gelder mares in 2011. The champion was bred by Wemke Staatsen from Emmer Compascuum and has been registered with Cees Hermeling from Driel for a few weeks. “I am very happy with how it turned out. The plan is to give her some rest now and then train her both under saddle and in harness. I will do this together with my instructor. Eventually, I would also like to breed a foal from her!”
The number one from the National Day of the Gelder horse, Reggae-Mirna, remains consistently noble and charming with good connections, but today she could have shown a bit more self-carriage. Reggae Mirna is out of Urana Mirna (elite prest sport by Cabochon). She was bred and is registered with the Postma-van der Wal family in Wijtgaard.
In second place was Rapunzel, a daughter of Hermès out of Ledine by Hertog Jan. A well-developed, beautifully modeled, and tall mare with a lot of charisma and an easy way of moving. She was bred and registered by Stal Krol from Handel.

Pleasure Claims Victory Among Older Gelder Mares
Only three beautiful four-to seven-year-old Gelder mares appeared in the ring to compete for the National title, which was ultimately won with flair by the very complete Pleasure.
Pleasure (by Kardieno) out of elite mare Wodine (by Larix). A mare with much flair and excellent leg technique, moving uphill and always in the correct posture. She was bred by father and daughter, Chris and Heleen de Bruijn from Wijk bij Duurstede. Marloes van der Velden explained the jury's choice: “This mare fits well within the Gelder horse type, a modern mare with beautiful leg technique. In motion, she also shows a lot of body use, and she can step very nicely.” Chris commented, “She presented herself very well, but it all has to come together in the ring. We didn't dare to expect this, but we certainly hoped for it, and it turned out well!”
The reserve title went to Nina-Amanda, an elegant daughter of Alexandro P out of the champion producer Amanda II (ster pref prest by Farrington). She was bred by Henk Hekkert in Wijhe and is registered with Coco Soffers from Nispen.

Unum Convincingly Crowned Champion of Gelder Horse Foals
All breeding directions are present at the National Mare Championships, including the Gelder horse, showcasing the finest representatives across all age groups. Among the foals, Unum took the lead.
Judges Jan Pen, Arie Hamoen, and Marloes van der Velden, who served as chairperson, presided over the event. Marloes provided insights into the foals.
Finale
A total of nine Gelder foals appeared before the jury; two colt foals and two filly foals were invited to the finale. Leading the finale was Unum, a buckskin-colored son of Odin out of the star mare Fendi Liena (by Manno). Marloes commented, "This foal has size and stature, is appealing, and possesses a lot of front. He also demonstrates good leg technique and a fine canter." Breeder and registered party Henny Steenbruggen from Puiflijk bought Unum's mother and bred her to Odin after Edmundo, proving to be a good choice. "I am very pleased with his mother. She has passed on her fine character to Unum. He also presented himself well today, but the jury's judgment is always uncertain. My day can't get any better!"
Second Place
Reserve champion in this category was Unique Kim, a daughter of Odeer out of the keur mare Kimberley (by Koss). Marloes explained, "A well-developed and charming foal that fits very well in the Gelder type. She is tall with a beautiful forehand." She was bred by Jaap and Jan Vonk in Goudriaan.

Pavo Cup: Red Viper Wins Semifinal with Top Score
The highest score of the day in the Pavo Cup semifinal was awarded to Romanov Blue Hors son Red Viper. Presented by Bart Veeze, this stallion scored an impressive 92.4 points. This total was good for the win in the semifinal for five-year-old horses.
Over 40 five-year-old horses competed today in the Pavo Cup semifinal, judged by Hans Bernoski and Mathie Boomaars. "This was an incredibly enjoyable experience," Hans stated with satisfaction. "We judged very well together and were very much on the same page. We had a large middle group, but also a strong leading group with two horses that really stood out in completeness. Overall, the horses could sometimes have shown a bit more connection."
Ability to Adjust
Red Viper (Romanov Blue Hors out of Zolena elite EPTM-dressage sport-dressage PROK by Sir Sinclair, breeder C. Kerbert from Enschede) received a 9.5 for canter, harmony, and overall impression. This stallion qualified for the semifinals through the World Championship selection. "Bart presented this horse fantastically. Bart had this stallion very well connected, allowing him to optimally showcase the horse's qualities. This horse has a good ability to adjust and showed beautiful transitions. Especially in the canter, we saw good extensions."
Complete Mare
With a small difference, the mare Oxxi_Lena (Secret out of Helena elite sport-dressage IBOP-dressage PROK by Don Tango B, breeder Myra Dicker-Glaser from Harskamp) finished in second place. Under Annemijn Boogaard, she scored 91.6 points. "This mare and the winner really stood out. This is a very impressive mare that was presented in a beautifully harmonious manner. She has a good walk and trots and canters with a lot of power."
Olivius
With 85.4 points, Totilas son Olivius (out of Blueberry-Utopia elite sport-dressage IBOP-dressage PROK by Vivaldi, breeder R. van den Heuvel from Kaatsheuvel) finished third in this semifinal. Danielle Heijkoop presented this half-brother of the stallion Livius. "This is a complete horse that was well presented. He has a lot of ability to adjust and good hind leg use. He has three good gaits but could be developed a bit more generously."

Story from Rhenoy and Dressage Stable Nathalie Smeets from Schalkwijk) in this semifinal. The combination received a 9 for their harmony, scoring 84.8 points, good for fourth place.
