EPTM Started in Ermelo
The first EPTM (Mare Performance Test) of 2024 commenced this morning, with 17 mares taking residence at the KWPN Center. These horses will participate in the seven-week test, during which they will first be backed and undergo initial training.
Inspector Marcel Beukers explains, "We have welcomed six jumping mares, ten dressage horses, and one Gelderland-bred mare. Upon arrival, the horses are first checked to ensure they are trainable, in good health, and have no other issues preventing their participation in a performance test. These seventeen mares have received the green light and will be backed in the coming weeks."
The group will be expanded in two weeks with the arrival of already ridden horses undergoing a five-week test. Mares must be at least 35 months old to participate in the EPTM. Marcel Beukers notes, "This early in the year, we mainly have four-year-old horses in the stables. Therefore, the first two EPTM rounds of the year are often not completely full. If people still want to register a mare for the next EPTM on February 19, that is still possible!"
