Four Days of Enjoyment with Breeding, Sport, and Show at KWPN Stallion Show
It's almost that time again: the KWPN Stallion Show. The largest Dutch breeding celebration will take place from Wednesday, January 31, to Saturday, February 3, at the Brabanthallen in 's-Hertogenbosch. Breeding, sport, and show will alternate, and the KWPN Select Sale is back in Den Bosch. The provisional program has been published, and you wouldn't want to miss it.
As a fan of equestrian sports and breeding, you can enjoy four days of excitement during the KWPN Stallion Show. The stallion selection is the central theme of the program, with nearly 200 three-year-old stallions presented at the second viewing, determining which stallions will proceed to the performance test. Alongside the stallion selection, the program is filled with sport and show competitions!
Start of Jumping Stallions
Traditionally, the KWPN Stallion Show kicks off with the selection of jumping stallions, and this year is no exception. Wednesday, January 31, is entirely dedicated to stallion selection. The stallions that have been referred to the second viewing after the first inspection will once again showcase their jumping abilities to the stallion judging committee. The jumping committee consists of chairman Wout-Jan van der Schans, Eric van der Vleuten, and the recently joined Bart Henstra. Ninety jumping stallions were referred to the second viewing during the first inspection.
Proven Sires
The majority of offspring are expected from Aganix du Seigneur, Conthargos, and Chacco-Blue. Four offspring from these proven sires will be presented. Grandorado TN N.O.P. and Mattias have the most offspring, each being the sire of three young stallions. The selection of jumping horses continues on Thursday, February 1. After two days of selection, it will be revealed which stallions are the premium stallions of 2024 and which stallions will proceed to the performance test.
Jumping Sport and Shows
In addition to the conclusion of the Blom Stallion Competition Jumping in classes 1.10m, 1.20m, and 1.30/1.35m, the approved jumping stallions of 2023 will also be presented under saddle on Friday. This presentation provides breeders with valuable information about the development of the young stallions. The event will also announce which stallion will be honored as the new predicate stallion.
Stallion Spectacle on Friday Evening
The program continues on Friday, February 2, with a focus on dressage horse enthusiasts. In the morning, stallion selection takes center stage, followed by the presentation of the approved stallions. Then, the competition begins for the Anemone Horse Trucks Stallion Competition Dressage. The championship in the L class is already decided, but these stallions come to Den Bosch for a presentation, offering breeders a good insight into the stallions across different age categories.
Show Block
Friday evening concludes with a show block. This exciting show will feature some of 'The World's Greatest' stallions, including various stallions from the WBFSH top 10, such as Vivaldi, Johnson, and Bordeaux, along with some of their remarkable offspring. The exact details are still a surprise, but we promise that this show will not disappoint.
Closing Day
The closing day of the KWPN Stallion Show is Saturday, February 3. A packed day includes dressage, harness horse, and Gelderland stallions. In the morning, the final dressage stallions will be presented to the stallion judging committee, consisting of chairman Bart Bax, Wouter Plaizier, and Johan Hamminga. In the afternoon, there will be a presentation of the approved stallions and the awarding of premiums to the dressage stallions. Gelderland stallions will also showcase their performance, followed by the presentation of the approved Gelderland stallions and the awarding of premiums. Additionally, Gelderland stallions approved in 2023 and those participating in the KWPN Stallion Competition Gelders Paard will be presented.
Oregon Trophy
After the KWPN Select Sale, it's time for the harness horse stallions. The program begins with the first inspection of the four-year-olds in harness and the second inspection of the harness horse stallions. Later in the day, it will be revealed which harness horse stallions are designated, and the awarding of premiums will take place. In between, there will be several fantastic shows, as well as the presentation of the harness horse stallions approved in 2023. The spectacular Oregon Trophy will be the highlight of this beautiful day, concluding the harness horse section. One thing is certain: as an enthusiast of equestrian sports and breeding, you must not miss the KWPN Stallion Show.
The KWPN Stallion Show is gearing up again. The world's largest stallion inspection will take place from January 31 to February 3 in Den Bosch. Ticket sales have already started, and KWPN members naturally receive a discount for the KWPN Stallion Show. It promises to be four fantastic days once again.
