The highlights at the KWPN Stallion Show on Saturday, February 1, during the harness horse evening in 's-Hertogenbosch, just keep coming. We go from one highlight to the next, not only for harness horse enthusiasts but also for those who appreciate the sport surrounding the unique Dutch harness horse. There will be plenty to enjoy for everyone.

Regarding harness horse breeding, this evening will feature a special tribute to the only living preferent stallion in the Netherlands: Cizandro. He is a son of Waldemar out of the star preferent Manno daughter Uizandra. Bred by the Den Otter brothers from Bruchem, they immediately knew he was special—unlike any foal they had bred before. And they had bred many foals. Their instincts were right: Cizandro became champion as a two-year-old stallion at the NTD, won the performance test with exceptionally high scores, and went on to claim numerous harnessed championships.

Harness Horse of the Year
In 2013, the always impressive Cizandro was crowned Harness Horse of the Year. The stallion earned 330 winning points, and 736 offspring are registered under his name, including four approved sons and three approved grandsons. What greater proof of his excellence as a breeding stallion than the fact that all three of his approved grandsons—Oberon, Rebel MJDB, and Ricardo—are presented at the KWPN Stallion Show, with some even competing in the Oregon Trophy? And as their grandsire, he is, of course, invited as well.

Thank you
During his preferent declaration in 2022, Cizandro gave an unforgettable farewell performance as a competition horse at National Harness Horse Day. The moment was accompanied by André Hazes' song “Bedankt mijn vriend” ("Thank You, My Friend"), and the entire crowd expressed their gratitude. It was one of those famous goosebump moments. Cizandro was always presented by Robbie and Chantal van Dijk’s training stable, with Robbie as his driver. Though owned by Den Otter brothers and Van Manen, Chantal van Dijk once said: “Cizandro belongs to all of us, but he doesn’t even know it. He is truly a people’s horse.” In Den Bosch, we want to make sure he knows—don’t you agree?

Approved stallions
Of course, Den Bosch will also showcase approved stallions. Two stallions will be presented:

  • Martin Morero (Atleet x Larix), bred by H. Hazelaar from Dalen and owned by Lambertus Huckriede from Enschede. The eight-year-old stallion, with 42 WP, will be shown in long reins.
  • Norking Apple (Icellie x Eebert), bred by Nico van Maaswaal from 't Goy, will also appear in long reins.

This special evening begins at 6:30 PM and can also be followed live on KWPN.tv.
