The semi-finalists for the Pavo Cup have been announced. A total of 108 dressage horses have qualified for the semi-finals, which will take place on Thursday, July 31 in Ermelo. Across all age categories, Kjento has the most offspring through to the next round.

Kjento Tops the Rankings
With eight offspring in the semi-finals, Kjento is the top sire. He is followed by Jameson RS2, with six offspring, and For Romance, with five. Glock’s Taminiau has four offspring in the semi-finals.

Strong Presence of Negro Bloodlines
The Negro bloodline, which is present in both Kjento and Jameson RS2, also appears on the dam’s side. Negro, Vivaldi, and Krack C each appear six times as damsires. Desperado, Johnson, and his sire Jazz each appear four times.

Top Prospect: McMary
Among the four-year-olds, VSN Champion McMary (by McLaren) enters the semi-finals with the strongest credentials. She scored 86 points with rider Phoebe Peters. A total of 53 horses will compete in this age group. The minimum qualifying score for the semi-final was 77 points, with overall impression and harmony serving as tie-breakers.

Highest Scores
Among the five-year-olds, 35 horses are set to compete. Emmelie Scholtens and Pfaff (by Indian Rock) come in with the highest score from the preliminaries. In the six-year-old category, Gerrel Vink enters Ermelo with the top qualifying score. He earned 83 points with Oberon (by Kensington). The minimum score to qualify was 75 for five-year-olds and 74 for six-year-olds, with the same tie-break rule applied.

Who Will Be Busy in Ermelo?
Franka Loos has qualified five horses for the semi-finals, which will take place on Thursday, July 31 in Ermelo. Vai Bruntink, Zandra Birkeland, and Robbin Kleermans have each qualified three horses.

Visit the KWPN Championships
From Wednesday, July 30 through Saturday, August 2, the KWPN Championships will take place at the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo. During these days, sport and breeding will come together in a varied program that includes the Van Santvoort Makelaars Cup, the Pavo Cup, and Breeding Day featuring the National Mare and Foal Inspection. The National Harness Horse Day will be held on Saturday, August 9 in Lunteren.
