Truly Gelder Horse Odenci Leads Older Mares Class
In the small but high-quality class of four- to seven-year-old star, keur, and elite mares, Odenci convincingly took the lead this time.
Marloes described Odenci as: “A truly Gelder-type mare, long-lined with plenty of substance and front, and with very good leg technique.” Odenci is a daughter of Alexandro P. Her dam is the ster preferent mare Dearda (by Manno). She was bred by A.J.G. Mulder from Klarenbeek and is registered to Mieke Boswinkel-Nijenhuis in Diepenheim. Mieke shared: “After the National Day of the Gelder Horse, I had low expectations for her at this inspection because she just didn’t show herself at all there. But today, thankfully, she moved through the arena just like she does at home!”
Reserve Champion
Second place went to the elite mare Pippa Dodessa van Heemstate (by Ferdinand), out of Dodessa, the preferent elite sport mare by Upperville. Dodessa was crowned champion of the three-year-old mares both at the National Day of the Gelder Horse and at the National Mare Inspection in 2011. Marloes said: “This mare really improved in motion. Compared to the winner, she could show just a touch more Gelder type. Still, she’s a mare with strong connections and excellent leg technique.”
