National Title for Highly Athletic Serusa R (by Hardrock Z)
After a fantastic performance in the free jumping phase, Frisian champion mare Serusa R (by Hardrock Z) left all competitors behind. The exceptionally athletic mare claimed the title at the National Mare Championship.
Strong Final Line-Up
The judging team—Bart Henstra, Henk Dirksen, and Sandra Schmucker—selected the ten most complete mares to form the leading group, resulting in a final filled exclusively with high-quality mares.
Exceptionally Complete and Athletic
The National Champion title was awarded to Serusa R, a daughter of Hardrock Z (out of the elite EPTM-spr, pref PROK mare Werusa by Padinus, bred by Ed Reyrink), owned by VDL Stud. She was already one of the top scorers of the season with 90 points for free jumping. In Ermelo, she raised the bar even higher and impressed across the board. “This youthful, long-lined mare has an excellent canter and showed a fantastic performance in the free jumping. She jumps with a powerful push-off, great reflexes, very good technique, and strong use of the body over the jump. She’s an extremely athletic mare who truly excels in jumping thanks to her athletic ability,” described Henk Dirksen.
Strong Runner-Up and Impressive Top Three
In second place came the genetically highly interesting Signorita ES (Emerald van ’t Ruytershof out of A.Vaantje R, sport-spr, preferent, prestatie mare by Carinjo), bred by Egbert Schep. “A strongly built mare with a good topline, who—like the champion—stands out for her athleticism over the jump. Compared to Serusa R, she could have been a bit more long-lined.”
Third place went to the Maas-Delta regional champion, Smurfan de Levee (Chacoon Blue out of Woradiella, elite IBOP-spr, pref, prest, PROK by Oramé), bred by Wim van Dijck from Hilvarenbeek. “This light-footed mare has a very good eye for the jump and uses her body well over the fence.”
Promising New Bloodlines
Just outside the podium finished Sachery VDL (Balou du Reventon out of Becherry, ster, pref, prest, PROK by Stakkato, bred/owned by VDL Stud), and in fifth place, Soleil de Lys (Newmarket VM out of Fleur de Lys, ster by Floris TN), bred by Team Nijhof from Geesteren and H. Schokker from Vilsteren. “Sachery VDL is an elegant mare with exceptional athletic ability. Soleil de Lys, from the first crop of Newmarket VM, showed a very good canter and impressive power.”
