Success for Kyton, Geniaal and Bonheur de la Vie
Several KWPN-approved stallions impressed last week, with standout performances from Kyton and Geniaal, while Bonheur de la Vie claimed silver at the Swiss Grand Prix Championship.
At the Subtop competition in Houten, Emmelie Scholtens competed in her third show with the KWPN-approved stallion Kyton (Ferguson x Wilbria elite IBOP-dres pref prest D-OC by Ferro, bred by Willem Goesten from Berkel Enschot). The pair made their Grand Prix debut this past June, and in Houten they posted a score of 69.89% despite some errors. About a year ago, Scholtens took over the reins from Edward Gal, under whom Kyton had also shown great potential. The chestnut stallion had previously caught the eye under Bart Veeze.
Geniaal back in winning form
With victories in both the Intermediaire I (74.26%) and the Prix St. Georges Freestyle (76.75%), Sarah Higgins and Geniaal (Vivaldi out of Wocky elite IBOP-dres pref prest D-OC PROK by Biotop, bred by the Traa family from Maren-Kessel) proved unbeatable in the competition. They finished nearly nine percentage points ahead of runners-up Matt Frost with Kerouac (by Sezuan out of Everoniek by Sorento, bred by G.J. Makinson from Gosmore UK). Earlier this year, Sarah and Geniaal had already claimed the national Small Tour Championship title. “Geniaal is usually ridden by his owner, Sarah Rao, who is currently in China preparing for the National Games,” Higgins explained. “Since the international show at Hartpury in early July, where we won the Inter I, I had only ridden him three times. That gave me some extra nerves, but once we entered the ring he felt so good that I could really go for it.” To focus on sport, Geniaal was gelded a few years ago. He is successfully competed at international Small Tour level by both Sarah Higgins and Sarah Rao.
Silver for Bordeaux son
At the Swiss National Dressage Championships, Charlotta Rogerson claimed the silver medal with the Bordeaux son Bonheur de la Vie (registered name Hugo Boss Platinum, out of Ankie ster pref PROK by Tuschinski, bred by the Gijsbers family from Loosbroek). The gelding had previously competed successfully at the highest level with Sandra Nuxoll. Since May, Charlotta has formed a partnership with Bonheur de la Vie, and last month they represented Switzerland at the European Championships in Crozet. In Roggwil, the pair finished second in the Grand Prix with 71.10% and won the Freestyle with 77.70%. These results secured them the silver medal overall, just behind Jessica Neuhauser with Rockson.
