At Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in Kronenberg, the Stallion Competition kicked off today with the first rounds of the season. The first selection of the KWPN Stallion Competition Gelder horse was won this evening by Anouk Slabbers with Ojee – B. The Ibsen B son impressed under Anouk Slabbers with his expressive trot, earning a total of 83 points.

As the first starter of the evening Anouk Slabbers presented Ojee – B (s.Ibsen B out of Jorien Tilde elite IBOP PROK by Rubus B, bred by G.S.W. te Bokkel from Eerbeek) in the ZZ-L class. Judges Arie Hamoen and Janine van Twist awarded the stallion a 9 for his trot, leading him to victory in the combined Z and ZZ-L division.

“This horse delivered a lovely performance and became more relaxed as the test progressed,” explained Arie Hamoen. “We saw this especially in the flying changes, which improved in the second half of the test. The walk could show a bit more overtrack and relaxation through the body. In trot, the horse moves uphill with an even bend to both sides. The canter shows plenty of power.”

Powerful-trotting Odeer
Second place went to Odeer (s.Atze out of Zeronica elite prest sport-dres PROK by Talos), presented by his breeder and owner Anouk Noordman. With an 8.4 for the trot as his highlight, the stallion earned 80.6 points.

“This stallion still found the atmosphere a bit exciting, and we felt he could have relaxed more throughout the test. The walk is active and pure, though it could show more stride in the beginning. The trot is powerful and uphill, with good ability to collect and extend. In canter, the flying changes were correct, but we would like to see a bit more athleticism.”

Olaf Official
Under Zoë Kuintjes, Olaf Official (s.Henkie out of Diamant ster by Sirius, bred by G.J.W. Roerdinkholder from Winterswijk Kotten) took third place, earning 76.4 points with a consistent set of marks.

“This horse still needs to develop more strength, especially in the trot where the hind leg could engage more decisively. The walk shows clear overtrack and good rhythm. In canter, he performed correct changes but was slightly hurried, which affected his self-carriage.”
