Already on the first day of the first round viewing, powered by AJ Bedrijfsdiensten, a generous number of 33 jumper stallions were selected for the KWPN Stallion Show.

It was a good day, with solid quality across the board. With five selected sons, Emerald van ’t Ruytershof will be well represented at the second round viewing. All Star (2), Chacoon Blue (2), Comme Il Faut (2) and Comthago VDL (2) also had multiple sons selected.

Strong pedigrees
Although pedigree does not yet count in this selection round, it is valuable to note that the group of selected stallions is also genetically interesting. “The committee is very satisfied after this first day. Of course, it is not a done deal yet, because in ’s-Hertogenbosch the stallions will have to convince again and all components will be included in the evaluation,” explains senior inspector Henk Dirksen on behalf of the committee. “In terms of numbers, Emerald van ’t Ruytershof stood out positively today with five selected sons, who generally have blood and are light-footed.”

The free movement on the hard surface also provided a lot of information today. “On several occasions, the committee had to make remarks about weak pasterns, and a downward sloping topline and weak back were also observed multiple times. Correctness remains an important aspect.”

Older stallions
Three older stallions were assessed on conformation. Their second round viewing consists of participation in two stallion competitions, in which they are evaluated under saddle by the stallion inspection committee. Both Unions Way (s.United Way) and Poker de Latif (s.Latif VS) have fulfilled this requirement in Kronenberg and IJsselmuiden. Pleasure (s.Tokyo du Soleil) will still have to compete in Groningen on 6 January. After that, the committee will announce which stallions are invited to the KWPN Stallion Show, once the veterinary data have also been reviewed.
