Today in IJsselmuiden, the Stallion Competition continued with the second qualifying competition. Anouk Slabbers and the Gelder stallion Ojee – B had already taken the lead in Kronenberg, and they repeated that success today in IJsselmuiden. With a score of 80.8 points, the Ibsen B son won this round of the KWPN Gelder Stallion Competition.

In the combined Z and ZZ-Light class, Ojee – B (Ibsen B out of Jorien Tilde elite IBOP PROK by Rubus B, bred by G.S.W. te Bokkel from Eerbeek) was the only six-year-old stallion to already perform a ZZ-Light test. Arie Hamoen and Brecht D’Hoore awarded the combination 80.8 points, with an 8.5 for the trot as the highlight. “He was a bit impressed by this beautiful venue,” Arie Hamoen explained. “At times, that slightly affected the suppleness. The walk is pure and active, with good rhythm, although he could show a bit more overtrack. In the trot, he demonstrates good leg placement and technique, but at times he became a little tight in the contact and slightly hollow in the topline. The canter has a lot of quality, and almost all flying changes were straight and well jumped through.”

Pleasantly trotting Odeer
The Atze son Odeer (out of Zeronica elite prest sport-dres PROK by Talos, bred by Anouk Noordman from Zuidwolde) finished in second place under Anouk Noordman with 79.6 points.
“In the walk, this stallion could be a bit more decisive,” the judges commented. “The trot shows good technique, though we noticed some difference between left and right bend. The canter could be more natural, but it does show correct technique.”

Top three
Zoë Kuintjes and Olaf Official (Henkie out of Diamant ster by Sirius, bred by G.J.W. Roerdinkholder from Winterswijk Kotten) completed the top three with a score of 75 points. “This stallion should create more freedom from the foreleg in the walk, to prevent him from interfering. In canter, we saw correct flying changes and more longitudinal bend than in the trot. Overall, the picture could show more swing and use of the body.”
