Charlotte Fry and Pjethro had already won the opening round of the Anemone Horse Trucks Dressage Stallion Competition in Kronenberg. Despite Power Dutch closing in on him, the Kjento son once again claimed victory today in IJsselmuiden, scoring 89.6 points.

As the first combination to enter the ring in the M class, Fry and Pjethro (Kjento out of Jaomie elite IBOP-dres D-OC by Desperado, bred by A.J. Beerens from De Moer) immediately set the standard. Judges Hans Peter Minderhoud, Patrick Berends, and Brecht D’Hoore rewarded the test with a 9.5 for trot and harmony. “This horse delivered a very pleasing performance with a beautifully active overall picture,” Brecht D’Hoore explained. “He maintained length and a lovely frame throughout the test. The walk is active and decisive, although he could show a bit more overtrack. In the trot, this stallion shows a great deal of technique, plenty of elasticity in the legs, and excellent ability to collect and extend. He performed the exercises with great ease. In the canter, we saw good balance and activity, although there was still a slight difference between the left and right canter.”

Closely matched
The Glock’s Toto Jr son Power Dutch (out of Miss Dutch Utopia elite sport-dres IBOP-dres D-OC by Double Dutch, bred by Stal Hexagon from Schore) finished a very close second under Thamar Zweistra with 89.4 points. This grey stallion continues to stand out with his exceptional walk, for which he received an impressive 9.8 today. “This stallion has a lot of presence and power, he truly lives up to his name. The walk is very expansive and active, and even when Thamar takes up the reins, he always stays in rhythm and marches on resolutely. In the trot, he showed great ability to adjust the stride, although the transitions could remain a bit more effortless at times. The canter also shows good adjustability, but he could be just a touch more decisive in the downward transitions.”

Beautiful foreleg action
Third place went to Renate van Uytert–van Vliet and Lamborghini U.S. (Lord Europe out of Sondra by Sir Donnerhall I, bred by Gestüt Lewitz from Steinfeld, GER) with 87.6 points. “A very elegant horse with plenty of ability to adjust the stride. The walk could show a bit more overtrack. This stallion trots with beautiful use of the foreleg, while the hind leg supports well and the quality of the trot is maintained in the lateral movements. In the canter, we again saw lovely foreleg use, and he showed good ability to collect. The left lead canter is still slightly better than the right.”
