Three genetically interesting embryos in the KWPN Online Broodmare and Embryo Auction
In addition to sixteen in-foal mares, the KWPN Online Broodmare and Embryo Auction, running from March 13 to 16, also offers three genetically very interesting embryos. These embryos combine proven sport genes with influential dam lines and give breeders the opportunity to strategically strengthen their breeding programs.
The first embryo is a combination of the strikingly performing stallion Comthago VDL and the influential Van ’t Roosakker line. Sire Comthago VDL shows strong results at the highest level under Hessel Hoekstra, and his oldest offspring are already breaking through at 1.40/1.45m level. On the dam’s side, this embryo traces back to an exceptionally strong sport family. Granddam Korona van ’t Hoogeinde competed internationally at 1.30m level and produced the international 1.45m jumper Qointreau van ’t Hoogeinde (v.Stakkato). She is also the full sister of the Olympic showjumper Kheros van ’t Hoogeinde and of Jivaro Imperio Egipcio, which also competed at the highest level. The line traces back through the 1.55m-jumping mare Geena van ’t Roosakker to Grand Prix mare Babbe van ’t Roosakker, a half-sister of three Grand Prix horses including Cella, Ben Maher’s European Championship medalist.
Grand Prix genes
Dressage breeders are also well represented with an embryo from the proven combination Vitalis x Revolution. Dam Roletta PS is a half-sister to no fewer than three Grand Prix dressage horses: the approved stallion Willingapark Sky Diamond (v.Sir Donnerhall I), Wild Diamond (v.Welt Hit II), and the multiple Grand Prix winner Vioretta (v.Vivaldi). Granddam Loreana is also the full sister of the famous Grand Prix sport and breeding stallion Diamond Hit and has already produced four stallions approved in Germany. This strong Oldenburg dam line also produced the international top horse Bluetooth Old (v.Bordeaux), with which Frederic Wandres competed at the Olympic Games and the European Championships. With Vitalis as the sire, breeders also benefit from one of the most influential dressage sires worldwide.
Dynamic Dream daughter
The third embryo is a sexed filly from the combination Dynamic Dream x Bretton Woods. Dam Bretton’s Bijou is a direct daughter of the influential foundation mare Gesina. This mare left a significant mark on modern dressage breeding, among others through her son For Romance I (v.Fürst Romancier), who competed at the highest level and is now known as a strong producer of Grand Prix horses. In direct line, Gesina also produced nine approved sons, including Feinrich, For Romance II and Golden Romance Malleret PS. Notable descendants from this family also include the Oldenburg champion mare Fasine, who sold for €1.3 million at the PSI auction and competed at Intermediaire II level. Sire Dynamic Dream made a big impression as a Westphalian champion stallion in the Danish stallion test and has made a very promising start in breeding.
