‘Queen’ Phoenix-Utopia RS2 secures NMC title
The impressive Phoenix-Utopia RS2 (s.Jameson RS2) lived up to the expectations and bested a strong group of finalists to secure the title.
Marian Dorresteijn, Floor Dröge and German guest judge André Hahn assessed the three-year-old dressage mares. The assembled a diverse and strong group of mares to advance to the prestigious final.

Crowd-pleaser Phoenix-Utopia RS2 (Jameson RS2 out of Wiona-Utopia elite sport-dres pref prest PROK by San Remo) of RS2 Dressage of Groesbeek followed in the footsteps of her dam, that was elected NMC champion in 2006. “This mare is a queen! She is well-developed, with an uphill frame and a beautiful forehand. She moves with remarkable power, push and ease”, enthuses Marian Dorresteijn. “She showed a correct walk and her canter left a lasting impression at the studbook inspection, which we took into account in our assessment.” Breeder and owner Saskia Lemmens beams with pride afterwards. “Phoenix-Utopia RS2 steals your heart, she is such a special horse! It’s incredible she became champion today.” Earlier this season, the mare came out on top at the central inspection of Gelderland.
Functional
Puma TC (Liverpool TC out of Gina Ballerina ster by United, bred/owned by Tim Coomans of Oud-Beijerland) placed second. This mare is a half-sister of the KWPN-approved stallion Blue Hors Monte Carlo TC (s.Dream Boy). “This youthful mare wows with her light-footed, elegant trot in which she displays ample balance and posture.” The top three was completed by the champion of the central inspection of Utrecht: Provini VDP (King Karim out of Utah elite sport-dres pref D-OC by OO Seven) of breeder Petty van Dijk-Vos of Stoutenburg. “A mare with a correct conformation, a beautiful body and a fantastic walk. In this pace she moves with a swinging back, a pure four-beat and abundant overtrack. Her trot was also very good, she displayed ease, technique and a powerful hind leg.”
