Dutch dressage horse breeders have once again proven to be the world's best breeders. In the WBFSH studbook ranking, the KWPN (Koninklijk Warmbloed Paardenstamboek Nederland) is at the top for dressage horses. Dutch-bred eventing horses were ranked eighth in the studbook ranking last year, but this year, they have secured the third position. However, Dutch-bred show jumping horses have dropped a place and are now in fourth place.

The WBFSH rankings are calculated for the period from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023. Horses can earn points at all international FEI competitions, and they are ranked based on their performance. The results of the best six horses are taken into account for the WBFSH studbook ranking. All six of the top KWPN dressage horses from the past year are within the top 25.

A British team dominates the ranking
The KWPN owes its top position to horses such as the KWPN stallion Glamourdale, who is ranked second among horses. This son of Lord Leatherdale (out of Thuja stb pref by Negro, breeder Joop Rodenburg from Oudenkerk aan den IJssel) is not the only standout British team horse in this ranking. Imhotep (Everdale out of Della d'Ottie stb-ext prest by Vivaldi, breeder T. Huizing from Donderen) is ranked fourth, Fame (Bordeaux out of Bonaventura ster prest sport-dres by Rhodium, breeders G. and M. Gerritsen from Leerdam) holds the thirteenth position, and Trento B daughter Briolinca (out of Trolinca stb prest by Royal Dance, breeders Gebroeders Van der Steen from Den Dungen) is fifteenth.

World Cup Victories
The KWPN stallion Hermès N.O.P. holds the tenth position. The son of Easy Game (out of Bukkie elite pref prest EPTM-dres D-OC by Flemmingh, breeder G. Gijsbers from Loosbroek) owes his place in part to top-three finishes in the World Cup competitions in 's-Hertogenbosch, Amsterdam, and Mechelen. The fourteenth position is taken by the son of Spielberg, Suppenkasper (out of Upanoeska keur prest IBOP-dres by Krack C, breeder F. van de Poel from Haps), who celebrated multiple World Cup victories in the United States and stood fourth during the final in Omaha.

Dutch Blood
The second position in the WBFSH studbook ranking goes to Oldenburg, with descendants of KWPN-recognized and approved stallions Blue Hors Zack, Bordeaux, and Totilas achieving success. Hanover secures the third spot in the studbook ranking. European champion TSF Dalera BB, a daughter of the KWPN-recognized Easy Game, tops the horse ranking.

Galileo Nieuwmoed Leads KWPN to Third Place
In eventing, the KWPN takes third place in this WBFSH ranking, thanks in large part to Galileo Nieuwmoed (Carambole out of Sjaloma ster by Harcos, breeders J.W. and A.P. Jurrius from Vorden), who leads the horse ranking. In seventh place, we find Izilot DHI (Zavall VDL out of Zilottie W stb by Marlon, breeder B.S. Wichers from Dedemsvaart). Farndon (Hemmingway out of Silvanda ster prest by Marlon, breeders S. & N. Burton from Southam GBR) is ranked 26th, followed by Dynasty (Whitesnake out of Cleopatra stb prest by Calvados, breeders E.R.M. Sieling & C.J. Kloet from Grolloo) at 28, Fedarman B (Eurocommerce Washington out of Paulien B stb prest by Fedor, breeders Mts. G. and G.F. Brinkman from Zutphen) at 32, and Fabian (Up to Date out of Ineke keur prest by Beaujolais, breeder J. Haandrikman from Borger) at 51. The Irish Sport Horse and Selle Français lead the eventing ranking.

Galileo Nieuwmoed, bred by the Jurrius family from Vorden (by Carambole), leads the eventing ranking.

Show Jumping Horses
In the show jumping horses category, the top positions go to Selle Français, Holstein, and Zangersheide. The eighth position of Iliana (Cardento out of Destiny vb by Gentleman, breeder J.A.M. Bocken from Weert) places the KWPN in fourth. Glamour Girl follows in the seventeenth position, and the KWPN stallion Highway TN (Eldorado van de Zeshoek out of Zelana V reg.A PROK by Chellano Z, breeder P. Verdellen Paarden Fok & Opfok from Horst) holds the twentieth place. Gakhir (Spartacus TN out of Zakhira ster by Indorado, breeder Mts. Van de Donk-Kooi from Vorstenbosch) ranks 22nd, Gemma W (Luidam out of Britt W by Unaniem, breeder A. Waldman from Putten) at 27, and Leone Jei (Baltic VDL out of Dara ster prest IBOP-spr PROK by Corland, breeder G.M. van Mersbergen from Udenhout) at 30.

Cardento daughter Iliana secures the eighth place in the individual ranking, making her the top KWPN representative in the WBFSH ranking.
