Escamillo son Extreme U.S. came into the Anemone Horse Trucks Stallion Competition Dressage in Ermelo today as the favorite. The winner of the Pavo Cup and the previous competition went under Renate van Uytert – van Vliet, leading once again with a score of 89.0, securing a comfortable lead.

In the L class, high scores were once again achieved by the four-year-old stallions. Extreme U.S. (Escamillo out of Viva Contana PS by Vivaldi, bred by Gestüt Lewitz from Steinfeld) received a 9.5 for his trot from judges Marian Dorresteijn and Sven Rothenberger, alongside 9s for walk, canter, and overall impression. "This horse has a lot of quality in the basic gaits, good use of the hind leg, and a lot of scope in the foreleg," begins Marian. "He naturally keeps his withers up and has a lot of balance. Today we saw some tension, which occasionally affected his connection to the hand, and he could maintain a bit more length in the front. Despite the tension, we certainly saw his qualities. He has a trot with a lot of potential for adjustments, a good engine, and a lot of balance."

Well-trotting Obsession Taonga
Lara van Nek placed second in the awards ceremony with the Vitalis son Obsession Taonga (out of Jatilinda elite pref IBOP-dres sport-dres PROK by All At Once, bred by Stal 104 from Wijdewormer). This stallion also received a 9.5 for his impressive trot. "The walk is pure and correct; he could be a bit more relaxed in the body. Especially the trot stands out. It is tactful and active with a lot of bend in the hind leg. Additionally, he remains closed and very nicely narrow on the track. This horse trots like clockwork with a lot of body use. In canter, we also saw good use of the hind leg with a lot of bend in the joints and a lot of balance. For even higher scores, he could grab a bit more beautifully in the foreleg."

84.4 points
Two horses scored 84.4 points, including Secret Lover (Secret out of Oh La La by Fürstenball, bred by B. Zumbruch from Wangerland), presented by Charlotte Fry. "This is a very diligent horse that makes a patent impression. He has a beautiful, consistent, and light contact with good length in the neck. The walk is shown with good body use and a nice overstep. The trot is light-footed and active with a beautiful use of the foreleg. In canter, we saw a lot of bend in the joints, and he remains well closed." The same total points were achieved by Robin Heiden and One Million (Vivaldi out of Joyrider elite IBOP-dres PROK by Apache, bred by M.H.J. Gotink from Warnsveld and Joop van Uytert from Heerewaarden). "This stallion is impressive in the front end with a beautifully shaped neck, a lot of shoulder freedom, and a lot of technique in the foreleg. He had some tension today, and therefore, in the overall picture, he could radiate a bit more looseness and naturalness. The walk has a lot of scope and a good overstep. In trot, we saw a lot of foreleg use, in canter a good jump, good scope, and a lot of leg technique."
