Offspring (foals) 1972:Good overall impression. In the walk, the hind leg steps well under the body. The trot could have slightly more scope; some foals move slightly narrow behind. Good type, the foals are built on the forehand. It will be interesting to see how they grow. Presumably, Erdball xx is best suited for mares with more "blood," given the appearance of his Thoroughbred offspring. These have good size and abundant "body," strong joints, and muscled hindquarters.
Offspring (complete collection), 1974:
A good, uniform group. Built well on the forehand, with sufficient size. The front cannon bone is sometimes small in circumference but solid, as is the case with the other age groups. In the younger foals, there is one issue with the hind leg. The walk and trot are big, elastic, and correct.
Approval period, November 1975: Erdball xx is approved for 3 years.
Keur predicate awarded, 1977:
Following a successful racing career, Erdball xx arrived in the Netherlands in the fall of 1970, through the agency of the Kamerlingh Onnes family. Although the stallion's solidness and nobility were masked by his excess weight, the WPN still awarded him recognized status, which turned out to be a good decision. After breeding a modest number of mares for two seasons (21 & 37) in the middle of the country, the stallion was sent to Friesland in 1973 to be used by the Vereniging Het Bovenlandse Paard. There he bred an average of 115 mares a year. A total of 17 fillies were registered from his first two breeding seasons. Of these, 11 were registered in the studbook, a very high percentage. The premium results of his daughters in 1977 are as follows: of the yearlings, 6 earned 1st premium and 8 earned 2nd premium. Of the 2-year-olds, 5 earned 1st premium, 5 earned 2nd premium, and 4 earned 3rd premium. Of the 3-year-olds, 4 earned 1st premium (and ster), 10 earned 2nd premium, and 4 earned 3rd premium. Among the older offspring, 1 was awarded the ster predicate. Of the stallion's ster daughters, 2 were awarded the keur predicate.
