Performance test report

Performance 1993 (short test, 19 days)
Obedient, honest, easy to handle. He was in meager condition at the start of the test. He was very willing to do the light work asked of him. The basic gaits all lack bend in the hindleg. The walk is not very powerful but it is regular and sufficient in scope. The trot and canter are regular and sufficient in scope. He has good take-off in jumping and shows a lot of scope. He has good leg technique but he should bascule more. He gives his dressage rider a moderate feeling and his jumper rider a good feeling. Stall behavior is normal.

Explanation following the advice keuring (1993)
Lauriston is a seven-year-old son of the stallion Latus by Landgraf I, one of the biggest jumper sires today. There are also great jumper sires in the dam line, Granit and Agram follow each other. Latus follows in the footsteps of his father. He is in second place of the German jumping index with 154 points. Three years ago there was an advice keuring with a negative result. At that moment the committee did not find any grounds for accepting the stallion into the studbook. Afterwards he was launched in competition. In the Bundeschampionat for 6-year old jumpers he received a 9.7 for jumping manners. His great suppleness really showed up.
In December of 1992 the stallion was evaluated in Germany. It appeared that the stallion had developed much more in comparison to previous years. He had good movement. The croup and neck shape were also noticed.
Seven offspring by Lauriston were evaluated, two young foals, three yearlings, one two year old and one three year old. The stallion only had limited use in the breeding program. The offspring were of the riding type. The necks are somewhat poorly muscled but are carried well in movement. The head is often a bit long. The shoulder is noticeably long and is placed well. The croup is a bit short and also slightly flat. The base should have more substance and the hindleg is often long. The movement has conspicuously good scope and a lot of suppleness. This is especially true for the trot but also for the canter.

Offspring 1994 (foals)
This stallion showed a uniform collection of foals. The development varied from moderate to sufficient. The foals are sufficient riding type but should have longer lines. The head has sufficient expression. The neck has sufficient length and is well muscled in the topline. The neck comes a little deep from the chest but is well carried. The wither should have more length and development. The sloping shoulder has sufficient length. The back is sufficiently long and well muscled. The loins are also well muscled and are nicely connected. The somewhat round croup is well muscled but a little lacking in length. The hamstring should be longer. The foreleg is usually correct. Most of the time the foreleg is a little fine and tied in. The hindleg is correct. The base generally lacks development. The walk is sufficient. The trot is good. The foals trot with impulsion, suppleness and scope. They show rise in the front and good use of the joints. One foal that was inspected at home fit in with the picture. The mares were good.
Veterinary remarks: in six cases the feet were straight and small.

In short: uniform collection of sufficiently riding type developed foals that can move well.
