Performance test report

Glendale is a modern, very riding type stallion that has refinement and quality and could have even more depth. The hindleg is a little on the long side.



Performance Ermelo 1991 (tied for 8th place)

Friendly, obedient, honest with good humor. He was barely saddle broke at the start of the test. Because of his length he has difficulty collecting. He has sufficient suppleness, the walk is good, and the trot is scopey and well carried. The canter is elastic and big. He leaves a lukewarm impression when he jumps, he has difficulty jumping back. He jumps with little take-off and does not finish the jump well behind. He should be more careful. He performs sufficiently in cross-country. He gives a good feeling in dressage and a normal feeling in jumping. He finds the work rather difficult but is more than willing to work. He has rather much talent for dressage and sufficient talent for jumping. He was in good condition upon arrival and remained that way. Stall behavior is good.

Offspring: 1993 (foals)
This stallion presented a very uniform group of well developed, riding type, long-lined foals. His offspring have strong rumps. The head is sufficiently expressive. The poll has very good shape, length and muscling. The wither should still develop but it is sufficiently long. The shoulder always has good length but should sometimes slope more. The back is well-muscled and the foals show strong connections. The croup has good length but should sometimes slope more. The foreleg is correct. The hindleg is consistently long and straight. The quality of the legs is good.
The walk is sufficient. The foals trot off easily but the hindleg should come underneath more. The trot should also flow through the body more. The selected foals were clearly more refined but their legs should be more generously developed.
On the average the stallion serviced good mares.

In short: well developed, riding type foals with strong rumps whose hindleg should come under the body more and who should be more supple.

Glendale"s approval is maintained on the basis of his 3-year old offspring.

Watchlist 2001
Glendale was put on the watchlist on the basis of his 7-year old offspring. At his performance test this Nimmerdor son that was exported to the USA showed more talent for dressage than for jumping. In his early years, Glendale go a lot of mares. Out of a total of 607 breedings there were 479 foals registered. Glendale scores sufficiently on his conformation index, though it should be known that the power of the hindleg still leaves something to be desired. His jumping index is 90 (73%) while his dressage index remains stuck at 85 (77%). On this bases it must be concluded that it was not possible for Glendale to give a positive push to the breeding program.
