Lay Out is a well-developed, riding type stallion with a good rectangular body shape with a downward body direction. The head is sufficiently expressive. The neck has more than sufficient length with a correct head-neck connection. The neck is somewhat horizontal, good in length and more than sufficient in muscling. The shoulder has good length and a good position. The withers are more than sufficiently developed and of good length. The back is slightly sunken and of good length. The loins are well muscled and well connected. The croup has a good position, has more than sufficient length and more than sufficient to good muscling. The hamstring has good length. The foreleg is correctly positioned. The hindleg is correctly positioned. The pasterns are good in length and correctly positioned. The foundation is well developed and of good quality. The hooves are well developed, good in shape and of good quality. The heels are correctly developed.
The preferent Verdi has been combining breeding and sport at the highest level with Maikel van der Vleuten for many years, participating in European Championships, World Cups, World Cup Finals and Olympic Games. During his sports career he has also been successfully used in breeding. Hereby, he earned the honorary title Horse of the Year 2018. Champion inspection stallion Lay Out is the fifth KWPN approved son of Verdi. His dam, the elite mare Vallei Roos (by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve), is also dam of the 1.35m jumping horse Empire of the Heffinck son Duberlin. Grandmother and performance mare Nachtroos produced in combination with Numero Uno the Z2 dressage horse Uferno and the 1.30m horse World Uno and in combination with Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve she produced the 1.30m show jumper Cristalroos. Great-grandmother Imariroos, who has received many English thoroughbred blood from Cavalcadour xx, Able Albert xx and Pericles xx, does not deny her ancestry with the offspring Vulcano (by Freestyle) who competes at international eventing competitions at three star level.
Lay Out is an honest and reliable stallion with a good attitude. The stallion has a lot of willingness to work and can be worked with easily enough, but still has some difficulties with the connection. The walk has more than sufficient space and flexibility. The trot has more than sufficient space and flexibility. The canter is light-footed, on the forehand and has good space. Layout jumps with good reflexes.
