The Harness Horse Breeder of the Year committee had to choose from a diverse selection this year. Who do you pick out of a set of three completely different breeders? The breeder that has been making conscious decisions to improve his horses ever since 1979: Harrie Tonnaer. 

Harrie was taught from a young age ‘the calf must be better than the cow’. A rule he applies to his own harness horse breeding program. “50% of the offspring must be better than the mare, regardless of the stallion that is used.”
