Performance test report

Conformation

Well-developed stallion with good jumping horse conformation. The head is attractive. The throatlatch is heavy. The neck has sufficient length, good muscling and is set deep in the chest. The shoulder has good length and placement. The withers are good in length and development. The back has sufficient length and is slightly sloping. The loins are well-connected and well-muscled. The croup is short, but well-muscled with a high tail set. The front leg is correct. The hind leg is correct. The legs are sufficiently developed and hardened, given Quasimodo van de Molendreef’s age and sporting career. The hooves are well-developed.

Lineage

The Nimmerdor- son Heartbreaker was very successful in the show jumping sport himself under Peter Geerink. His offspring stand out in the show jumping sport, just like Heartbreaker himself, because of their dedication and gameness. Dam Jarme van ’t Steentje was also the mother of Quasimodo van de Molendreef’s full brother and BWP-approved stallion Action Breaker. The dam’s sire Lys de Darmen can be encountered in the linage of many international show jumpers. The dam-line continues with daughters of Porche de Bornival (Lugano x Flugel) and Urao Brun (Mexico x Flamingo xx). Offspring of Quasimodo van de Molendreef’s time at the Belgian stud are now becoming successful in international young horses classes. Quasimodo van de Molendreef leads the Belgian show jumping index of 2007.

Inspection Report
Quasimodo van de Molendreef was successful in international Grand Prix show jumping under Mexican rider Jaime Azcarraga. For this reason he was excused from the stallion test, and was solely brought to the inspection center for evaluation of his stable behaviour.

Stable Behavior

Quasimodo van de Molendreef is an honest and reliable stallion. He is easy on the ground and quiet in his stall.  

Veterinary Report
No remarks can be made of the test period. Quasimodo van de Molendreef does not meet the radiological standards concerning his right hind knee, which is classed a C for osteochondrosis. The stallion approval committee has used the regulatory exception to accept a stallion with a class C for osteochondrosis.

Semen Inspection
Expected fertility class: sufficient.

Breeding Recommendation
Quasimodo van de Molendreef can improve jumping horse breeding with his reflexes, character and jumping technique, and should preferably be used with royally developed mares that have sufficient length in the neck and body.

Dam Report
Jarme van ‘t Steentje is a well-developed mare with good jumping horse conformation. The mare is short-legged, classically built with downward sloping body. The head is large and the jaws are heavy. The poll is short with little room at the throatlatch. The neck has good length, muscling and placement. The withers are well-developed and extend far into the back. The shoulder is steep with sufficient length. The back is very weak, which is not surprising given her age (25 years). Two inspected offspring of the mare both have a good top line. The loins are a little weak, but well-muscled. The croup is short and a little straight. The hocks are well-developed. The front leg is a little calf-kneed. The hind leg is correct. The pasterns are short and correct. The hooves are well-formed and have a sufficient heel. The legs are heavy and filled. One inspected offspring has hardened legs, the other filled. The walk is correct. Trot and canter cannot be evaluated, given the old age. The mare has jumped on Advanced (Z) level herself.
