Performance test report

Conformation
Chapeau Valiere is a more than sufficiently developed stallion with more than sufficient jumper conformation. The head is more than sufficiently attractive. The poll is sufficiently long. The neck has good length and muscling but comes out deep from the chest. The shoulder has good length and placement. The wither has more than sufficient development and length. The back has good length and muscling. The loins are more than sufficiently muscled and sufficiently connected. The croup has good length and muscling with a high tail set. The front leg is slightly back at the knee. The hind leg is slightly sickled-hocked. The legs are well developed and of sufficient quality. The hooves are well shaped.

Lineage
Chapeau Valière is a product of Wittinger VDL's first year at stud. This sire is a successful show jumper under Jur Vrieling. Chapeau Valière is out of Silvana, a keur mare by Marlon (Zeus x Ramiro). After spending several years abroad, Marlon is available to Dutch breeders again. The stallion regularly produces above-average jumpers. Chapeau Valière's granddam is Moritz, a Goodwill (s.Landgraf I) daughter out of Tonia by Otto (s.Marco Polo). The dam-line continues with daughters by Compliment and Nizam, the latter of which also produced Garma, the dam of the KWPN-approved stallion Jasper (s.Courville xx).

Inspection Report
Chapeau Valière is an honest and reliable stallion. He is more than sufficient in his willingness to work, has good trainability, and a good mouth. The walk is pure and has good scope. The trot has more than sufficient scope and power. The canter is powerful, carried, and has good scope. The stallion moves with more than sufficient body position and good balance. Chapeau Valière jumps with good to very good reflexes, good body use, and he completes his jump well with his hind end.  Chapeau Valière appears careful and demonstrates abundant to very abundant scope. He shows abundant to very abundant talent as a jumper and gives his rider a good feeling.

Stable Behavior
Chapeau Valière is an honest and reliable stallion. He is easy on the ground and quiet in his stall.  

Veterinary Report
The stallion had a skin infection upon arrival, which subsided after treatment.  

Semen Inspection
Expected fertility class: sufficient.

Breeding Recommendation
Chapeau Valière can improve jumping talent. He is best suited for mares with sufficient "blood."

Dam Report
Silvana is a well-developed and strongly-built keur mare with sufficient riding type and more than sufficient rectangular-shaped conformation. The head is attractive. The poll has good length. The throatlatch is normal. The neck is long with normal placement and muscling. The wither shows normal development but could be longer. The shoulder has sufficient length but is straight. The back has good placement and muscling. The loins have good placement and muscling. The croup has normal length and is slightly sloped. There is more than sufficient length from the point of the hip to the point of the buttock. The front leg is correct. The hind leg is slightly sickle-hocked. The pastern angle is slightly weak; the pasterns are of normal length. The hooves are small with normally developed heels. The legs have normal development. The legs are tight. The walk is slightly toed-out, active, pure, and has sufficient scope. The trot has good scope with a good hind leg. The trot is powerful and uphill. The canter has good scope and balance with a good hind leg. The body use is sufficient.

In 2003, Silvana passed the five-week mare test with the following results:
walk-7, trot-7.5, canter-7, dressage talent-7 (x2); jumping: push-7.5, form-6.5, scope-7.5, jumping talent-7 (x2). Total-71 points.
